Key Outcomes & Ministerial Assurances: Hon’ble Union Minister’s Visit to Boost Roller Skating in Puducherry.

We are thrilled to share the highlights of a significant engagement with Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, during his recent visit to Puducherry. The Pondicherry Roller Skating Association had the privilege of welcoming the Hon’ble Minister, with PRSA President, Vice President, and General Secretary participating in a productive discussion.

We are delighted to convey the Minister’s encouraging assurances:
– Infrastructure Development: The Hon’ble Minister affirmed that Puducherry will soon have an international-grade bank track and a dedicated road circuit for roller skating.
– Major Championship: He also announced plans to organize a major national/international roller skating championship in Puducherry in the near future.

During his visit, the Minister graciously interacted with our talented skaters, inquiring about their experiences and extending his heartfelt wishes for their continued success. He also commended the persistent efforts of our Association.

In our formal submission, we reiterated the need for modernized infrastructure to nurture young athletic talent and strongly advocated for the inclusion of Roller Skating as a discipline in the 2030 Commonwealth Games, given the sport’s global recognition and India’s rising achievements.

This marks a pivotal moment for roller sports in our region, reflecting our shared commitment to creating world-class opportunities for athletes and elevating the sport to its deserved stature.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Shri P.M.L. Kalyanasundaram, MLA Kalapet; Shri A. Namassivayam, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Puducherry; and Shri N. Rangasamy, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Puducherry, along with the Puducherry Government, for their unwavering support in facilitating this milestone.

We look forward to continued collaboration and timely implementation of these developmental initiatives.
